Melissa=Entertainment?

It is an interesting thing, my age.

What is every more interesting is that most people do not perceive me at the age I am.

I have calculated that the average age people think I am is 21.5.

When I was 12, someone asked me how old my baby was. When I was 16, the lady at the grocery store asked me how old my daughter was. Many a time, people mistake the gold ring on my left hand for a wedding ring.

The managing director of the retreat center that I work thinks it is fun to ask people who do not know me how old I am. Before they answer, I tell them that it is a mean question and they lower their guess. Today it was 20 and 21.

I have learned to smile at people when they ask me how many children I have. It warms my heart when people tell me that I am mature-the compliment I receive most often for sure.

But I am starting to wonder...is this looking older than my age going to catch up to me someday?

What are people going to say when I am 50?

Wow Mellie, I'd feel blessed to be you! Believe me it's a blessing! I finally got asked "how old are you?" at the AT&T store the other day! Someone actually knew I had the possibility to be 18 or over! What a victory for someone who's approaching 21.

haha, poor girl... :) I have the same thing happen... People are constantly asking my sister (5 years older than me) and I which of us is older...and they'd probably guess her to be older than her age. :) A few months ago, when I told someone I was 16, she flat out denied it, saying that I couldn't possibly be 16. And about a year ago, Dad and I were at lunch with a group from our church, and the waitress handed me a lottery ticket of some sort (which was only for those over 18, and I believe that all of our group left them, anyway), but asked Mike his age...and he was turning 20 the next day. :)

I don't think it'll catch up with you, though, 'cause it's probably more maturity than things like how old your face looks. Like, I assume you dress a bit more maturely than the average half-dressed teen. And I know you think a bit more maturely than the average one. :) Really, when I get around "normal" teens, and see the complete immaturity of them, I don't wonder so much that folks think I'm older than I am.

Now that's not to say that Mel Shray isn't mature...or anything like that...she just must not show it as well, 'cause I know that she's quite mature, too. :)
